3Helen Howard School of Theatre Dance was established in 1999, by the principal, Helen Howard.

The aim at Helen Howard’s is to create a friendly environment in which to learn. Classes are designed to enable students to reach their full potential in each discipline, as well as developing self-confidence and a sense of achievement.

Many former students have gone on to further their dance careers at full time Theatre Schools, as well as performing professionally and teaching.

Students are entered for IDTA examinations and we are very proud of the excellent results that our students achieve.

We like to give all our students the opportunity to perform wherever possible. As well as producing our own school production, which involves all members of the school, we also support our local community. This involves performing at local Galas, School Fetes, Community Shows and raising money for local charities. Helen also goes into the local Primary Schools to deliver workshops, or to help out with their school productions.

1Amongst other venues, we have also performed at Manchester Opera House and Blackpool Winter Gardens. Children have also had the opportunity to perform alongside professional companies of singers and dancers.

We are regularly invited to perform in London and many young dancers dreams have been realised by having the chance to perform, not only at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, but also at The Royal Albert Hall. These have been experiences that not only the dancers, but also their families, will remember for the rest of their lives.

We are very proud of every single one of our students and the “family” atmosphere that our school has. Students work together, help and encourage each other, and many long lasting friendships began in dance class.
